The ACE Curriculum 2014 is designed to ensure there is coverage while giving cross curricular links and inspirational creative ideas. It is organised into terms and the overall topic themes for each term means that every class is participating in a similar subject range but with their own individual topic. It is the creativity of individual class, teachers and children, through discussion and enquiry to develop their own planning.

As each class is following the same overall theme we are able to come together to share a celebration of work across our school and where possible ACE group.

The Time Travellers historical theme helps our children gain a better understanding of Britain’s past and the wider world, inspiring curiosity to know more about the past. This unit helps children to understand the complexity of people’s lives, from the earliest of times to the present day; the process of change as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. For the history of the wider world topics, children explore the nature of ancient civilisations; the expansion and dissolution of empires and their characteristics.

Overall, we explore historical concepts such as continutity and change, cause and consequence, similarity and differences and use them to make connections.
