We are very fortunate at Hamstreet to employ a Learning Mentor, Rebecca Daynes, who can help children and families in many ways, some of which are listed below. Many children and families face problems from time to time and the Learning Mentor is there to help either through a face to face meeting or a phone call; she can give support and guidance on many issues.  Children are able to see her in confidence at various times during the school day if they would like support too.

Just some of the areas Becca can provide support:

  • Information sharing
  • Point of contact for children with friendship issues
  • Behaviour management groups
  • Social skills awareness groups
  • Liaise with staff on your behalf
  • Personal hygiene/nutrition advice
  • Support for children suffering family break-up and bereavement
  • Impartial ear for parents and families
  • Liaise with outside agencies
  • Provide a shoulder in time of need
  • Advice for families in debt
  • Drug abuse information
  • Assist with poor behaviour and attendance issues
  • General assistance with childcare related issues
  • Help accessing services in the local area
  • Parent coffee mornings
  • Parenting workshops
